Trace Read support

Email support@practicalbyteapps.com. Say what phone or browser you used and what you expected to see. Please don't attach trace files from a customer's network unless you are allowed to share them.

Files it reads

• Telcordia SR-4731 OTDR traces (.sor, versions 1 and 2)
• OTDR .trc files from EXFO instruments (read only; readings are indicative)
• PX1-S power-meter records (.opm), one file or a whole folder

Not yet: .iolm, .olts, .msor, .csor. Export a Bellcore/Telcordia .sor from the instrument or its PC software and open that.

Common questions

The length includes my launch cord. Tick “Launch cord in use” and enter the cord length; Trace Read finds the cord’s end connector and zeros there. If the instrument already zeroed past the cord, it says so and does not subtract it twice.

Is this a certification? No. It reads a trace. The instrument’s own report remains the record, and a technician should review any trace before relying on it.
